Marvel officially confirmed at D23 that Navarrette, who starred as Nikki in Obsession, will play Rogue in the studio’s upcoming X-Men movie.
That is a pretty massive move.
Obsession helped turn Navarrette into one of the most talked-about horror performers of 2026. Now she is stepping into one of the most recognizable roles in the entire X-Men franchise.
Inde Navarrette Is Officially Rogue
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige unveiled the new X-Men cast during Disney’s D23 event in Anaheim.
Navarrette will play Rogue alongside a new lineup that includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Xavier, Maya Boyd as Storm and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. Adam Driver will play Mister Sinister.
The untitled X-Men movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2028, with Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier set to direct. For Navarrette, though, Rogue is easily the biggest role of her career so far.
From Nikki to Rogue Is a Wild Career Jump
If you watched Obsession, this casting is probably going to get your attention.
Navarrette’s performance as Nikki has been one of the major reasons the movie has stayed in the conversation. The character has already generated debates over the film itself, fan reactions and even her planned presence at Halloween Horror Nights.
Now, almost immediately after that breakout, she is joining Marvel.
That does not happen very often.
There are actors who spend years trying to land a role this big. Navarrette is going from an indie horror breakout to one of Marvel’s most recognizable mutants in what feels like no time at all.
Rogue Is Not a Small Role
Rogue has been a major part of the X-Men for decades.
Her mutant ability allows her to absorb another person’s powers, memories and energy through physical contact. Depending on the version of the character, that ability can make even something as simple as touching another person dangerous.
On the big screen, Rogue was previously played by Anna Paquin in Fox’s original X-Men movies.
That means Navarrette is not just joining Marvel.
She is taking over a character that an entire generation already associates with another actress.
There is going to be pressure attached to that.
This New X-Men Cast Is Pretty Interesting
Navarrette was not the only major announcement.
Marvel’s new team includes a mix of established actors and rising names, with Adam Driver’s casting as Mister Sinister probably being the other announcement that will generate the most conversation.
Marvel has been slowly bringing mutants into the MCU for years, but this movie is expected to be the real beginning of the studio’s new X-Men era.
And Navarrette gets to be part of that from the start.
That is a pretty good place to be.
